About us

Granny’s Boise Squirrel Rescue

Located in the heart of Boise, Idaho, Granny’s Boise Squirrel Rescue is a passionate, donation-driven non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, recovery, and release of wild squirrels. Our mission is to provide orphaned and injured squirrels with a second chance at life, nurturing them back to health and freedom in their natural habitats.
At the core of our rescue efforts is “Squirrelville”, our multi-stage recovery facility. Here, every squirrel’s journey from fragility to freedom is supported by specialized environments tailored to every stage of their recovery. From the warmth of our Aerolus incubators for the tiniest newcomers, through the structured growth habitats that accommodate their development from pinkies to teenagers, to Harlie’s House – a dedicated space for individual recoveries. Our outdoor facilities include the expansive Tower House, Kerry’s Fence Run for skill-building, a playful Playhouse, the cozy North End House, and an open-air release structure designed to reintroduce our furry friends to the wild with care and precision.
Granny’s Boise Squirrel Rescue doesn’t operate in isolation. We are proud to be part of a vibrant community of animal lovers and professionals, including:

The founding members of the Secret Squirrel Society. The dedicated rescuers of Squirrel Squad across southern Idaho. The proactive teams behind 911 Squirrel Pickup and Drop and the Secret Squirrel General Chat on Facebook. Rising Sun Animal Hospital in Nampa. WestVet Animal Hospital in Garden City.

Together, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of squirrels in need, fostering a community that values wildlife and works tirelessly to protect it. Join us in our mission to heal, nurture and celebrate the spirited lives of Idaho’s squirrels

We’re here to help

We have a team of people standing by to help for a squirrel in distress. For emergencies send a message in Facebook Messenger at “911 Squirrel Pick Up and Drop OFF ONLY” with a brief description of the situation. One of our many expert rescuers will contact you as soon as possible to help. For anyone who doesn’t have Facebook messenger, please send us an email at fansong6@earthlink.net.

For seriously injured squirrels, we often work with Rising Sun Animal Hospital in Nampa, WestVet in Garden City, and Eastgate Vet in Boise. Just let us know that you have dropped the squirrel off and at which location so we can follow-up and proceed from there.

Aeolus UC1803 Incubator

Your generous donations contributed to the purchase of our incubator. The UC1803 provides a safe temperature and humidity controlled environment which greatly increases the chance of survival for pinkies (newborns) and injured squirrels.

Our Network Coverage

Our network covers the southern Idaho region along the I84 corridor from Burley to Marsing

Look how fast they grow!

Should you find an orphan baby squirrel: Time is of the essence. Find a rescuer if the baby is observed on the ground more than a few hours. Mom is not coming back. If possible, do not allow the baby to stay outside overnight. Providing warmth with blankets or a heating pad is critical to baby’s survival. Do not try to feed them. Contact an experienced rescuer as soon as possible.

A Fun Way To Support Our Rescue Efforts

These children’s books are written by our partner, Beckie Lombardi, and are available on Amazon. All proceeds go directly towards saving furry tails like Moxie and Emmett.
